A comprehensive asbestos management plan ensures your property is dealt with appropriately

Sometimes during house renovations or commercial fitouts, an issue like asbestos is discovered. Or you may discover the presence of asbestos during a building inspection. While unnerving it doesn't have to derail your project. However, it will need to be dealt with appropriately.

Working with our partners at HazMat, our team can ensure an asbestos management plan is developed to make sure your issue is dealt with swiftly and safely.  We'll deal with everything on your behalf to make it easier for you and to ensure your project is not delayed any more than necessary.

Asbestos TestingHazMat provides asbestos testing services to determine the presence of asbestos at your property. Tests are analysed by IANZ Accredited laboratories
Asbestos Surveys and Management PlansUnder health and safety regulations all Persons Controlling Businesses or Undertakings (PCBUs) are required to have an asbestos management plan. The HazMat team can carry out a survey and create a management plan for you to identify how asbestos containing materials (ACM) will be managed.
Asbestos RemovalAsbestos removal must be carried out by qualified and experience contractors. HazMat can safely remove and dispose of any ACMs at your property. As well as staff trained and qualified in Class A or B asbestos, they also have appropriate safety equipment and personal protection equipment (PPE). Examples of removal projects including textured ceilings, soffits, fibre cement boards, decramastic roofing, chimneys and sheds and garages.
Asbestos Soil DecontaminationSometimes asbestos gets into the soil, for example when fibre cement sheeting is used for fencing or garden structures. HazMat can test soil for contamination and then encapsulate or remove the affected parts.
Asbestos EncapsulationIn some cases, asbestos can be safely encapsulated rather than needing to be fully removed. Encapsulation is essentially covering the asbestos fibres to stop them from shedding and getting into the air. For example, the area can be painted over or have a new floor laid. It is a more cost-effective option than full removal, although it will need to be looked at again in the long term.
Asbestos Hole DrillingAsbestos hole drilling is another alternative to full removal in suitable cases. If the asbestos is non-friable, such as soffits or exterior cladding, then it may be possible to drill a hole through it using a safe method. The hole is cut and the waste is removed and then the cavity is sealed. This is a good option if you need to remove some asbestos to install plumbing or air conditioning pipework.
Rapid ResponseIt's best if asbestos can be tested for and dealt with in an appropriate time frame that allows for planning. However, sometimes, that's not possible and the issue needs to be dealt with at speed. Examples include if a homeowner or contractor has carried out work without realising that asbestos was present and has damaged it, or if asbestos is discovered accidentally during excavations and there are people on site. For those situations, HazMat offers a rapid response service and can often test and decontaminate the site on the same day.
